Courses

This short course provides an overview of:

 - The lifecycle of a typical road construction project

 - The typical stakeout, checking and measuring tasks on a road construction project

 - The benefits that the iCON site Roading app brings to these site tasks

  • Equipment needed: None

  • Total time needed: Approximately 45 minutes (can be completed in stages)

This course will guide you through the basic use of Leica iCON build for construction site layout tasks.

  • Equipment needed: Leica iCON build robotic total station kit (or PC simulator)

  • Total time needed: Approximately 1½ hours (can be completed in stages)

This course follows on from the Leica iCON Build: Simple Layout course. After completing this course (and hopefully having put that learning into practice on your own construction sites) you should now be able to use iCON Build to layout points, lines and elevations. In this second course, you will learn additional productivity-boosting features of your iCON system.

  • Equipment needed: An iCON Build total station and controller, or you can use the simulator

  • Total time needed: Approximately 1.5 hours

In this course you will learn about the construction verification tools which were added to Leica iCON in November 2020.

  • Equipment needed: None

  • Total time needed: Approximately 2 hours (can be completed in stages)

This course will introduce you to how to create surfaces and calculate stockpile volumes using iCON site. If you are new to iCON site, this is a course for you, since no previous work experience with iCON site is required; however, it would be really good if you have a basic understanding of the requirements needed on a digitised job site (basic understanding of GNSS, data and a coordinate system).

  • Equipment needed: It is highly recommended that you have an Leica Rover – a GNSS receiver and a controller with the latest version of iCON site installed. Alternatively, you can install the iCON simulator on a PC - instructions are included in the course.

  • Total time needed: Approximately 45 minutes (can be completed in stages)

This course will guide you through the primary use of iCON site for construction site stakeout tasks. It is intended for new users – no previous experience with iCON site is required. However, a basic understanding of the requirements needed on a digitised job site is an advantage - for example, an understanding of GNSS and coordinate systems.

  • Equipment needed: It is highly recommended that you have an Leica Rover – a GNSS receiver and a controller with the latest version of iCON site installed. Alternatively, you can install the iCON simulator on a PC - instructions are included in the course.

  • Total time needed: 1 hour

This course covers the measurement automation features of the Leica iCON iCR70 and iCR80 robotic total stations.

The course aim is to make you as productive as possible as quickly as possible.

  • Equipment needed: Your iCON robotic total station equipment with the iCON tablet controller and 360° prism
  • Total time needed: Approximately 2 hours (can be completed in stages).

In this course you will learn about the Leica AP20 AutoPole with iCON. The course will introduce the AP20, show how it works, show the benefits of using it and how to use it for measuring and staking.

  • Equipment needed: None

  • Total time needed: Approximately 1 1/2 hours (can be completed in stages)
